Think Inside the Box

Many people don’t realize their spare change goes a long way. You may have seen one of these Donation Boxes at your local McDonald’s.  It’s an instrumental fundraising tool for Ronald McDonald House Charities.  Everyone loves to see big results, FAST! Despite what the majority of you may think, we DO get big results through our Donation Boxes when you give a little at a time.

Do you know that your donation stays local? All monetary items collected in the Donation Boxes directly benefit the RMHC Chapter in that region. The money doesn’t get filtered through RMHC global or anywhere else for that matter; so you know exactly where your money is going.

The Donation Boxes in the 51 Chattanooga area McDonald’s Restaurants bring in about $150,000 per year for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga.  The Chattanooga Ad-Coop annually provides RMHC of Greater Chattanooga with approximately 25% of its budget with funds from the donation boxes, marketing partnerships and in-store promotions.

Our Chapter even has a special day called Day of Change to promote and encourage the importance of Donation Box donations!

To expand the facts, checkout the statistics worldwide:

– More than $200 million dollars has been collected through Ronald McDonald House Charities Donation Boxes.
– In 2013, $50 million was raised solely from Donation Boxes world-wide.
– If every McDonald’s customer donated one penny to RMHC per visit, we would raise $250 million dollars a year.
– One full Donation Box could let a family stay together at a Ronald McDonald House for a night.

Next time you are going through the drive-thru or in line at your local McDonald’s, pay it forward and use your spare change to change a child’s life.  For more information, visit
